BRC is excited to be working with the Boulder Community Foundation to help evaluate an initiative aimed at improving outcomes for Latino families. Although Boulder is one of the most affluent communities in the state, it is also socioeconomically diverse. In spite of high average achievement scores, it continues to have one of the largest achievement gaps in the state between Anglo and Latino children.
The ELPASO (Engaged Latino Parents Advancing School Outcomes) program, part of the Community Foundation’s School Readiness Initiative, aims to address the achievement gap by improving school readiness outcomes for Latino children . ELPASO’s goal is to empower and educate parents. provide resource and referral to the area’s young Latino families, and recrui Latino parent leaders to organize their communities for the advancement of Latino school outcomes.
